2015 Sand Hollow Open Champion Zac Blair

The Third annual championship attracts many of the well-known names in Utah golf.

Hurricane, Utah – The third annual Sand Hollow Open presented by the Leavitt Group tees off early Thursday morning, Sept. 22nd on the Championship Course at Sand Hollow Resort featuring a first place purse of $18,000.

“We are excited to be hosting our third Sand Hollow Open,” said Sand Hollow Head Golf Professional Adam Jasperson. “Our entries have grown from the last two years and we have a strong field including our defending champion and PGA Tour member Zac Blair and this year’s PGA Tour Puerto Rico Open champion Tony Finau.”

The tournament features a good representation of mini-tour players from around the region, all hoping to build some confidence and find a swing that will carry them through the upcoming Web.Com Tour Qualifying tournaments including professionals and former BYU teammates Joe Parkinson, Justin Keiley and Jordan Rodgers. Also in the field are Utah Open champions Zahkai Brown and Nick Mason as well as some of Utah's top amateur golfers.

The stroke play championship plays out Thursday and Friday, on the John Fought designed Championship Course, when the 36-hole field will be cut to the low 30 scores for the final round Saturday. Spectators are welcome.

Jasperson said, “We are pleased with where we are with this young tournament. Our entries for a third-year event feature a bit of the old and new generation of players. We are excited to see who will come out on top Saturday and we will be thrilled to present one of the highest first place checks in Utah golf this year.”
