Raga’s 72 Highlights UVU’s Final Round in Sedona

SEDONA, Ariz. – Utah Valley University sophomore Ana Raga moved up 10 spots on the leaderboard to finish the tournament in a tie for 17th place after carding an even-par 72 during Sunday's final round of play at the Red Rocks Invitational in Sedona. The Wolverine sophomore finished with a three-round tally of 9-over-par (225) at UVU's first tournament of the spring season.
 
After carding scores of 77 and 76 during Saturday's opening day of the tournament, Raga responded by firing the 72 on Sunday. Her 72 is the second-best single-round score of her career.
 
As a team, the Wolverines finished in 11th place out of 13 teams with a three-round tally of 80-over-par (944). UVU recorded scores of 312, 318 and 314 en route to earning the 11th-place finish. WAC foe Seattle U won the event after edging out Toledo via a tiebreaker with a 20-over 884, while Toledo took second (884) and the host Northern Arizona Lumberjacks placed third (898).
 
NAU's Sofia Anokhina earned individual medalist honors after carding an impressive 12-under-par 204 (69-68-67).
 
Besides Raga's 17th-place finish, fellow sophomore Carly Dehlin too played well for UVU by tying for 30th-place with a 14-over 230. Dehlin scored rounds of 74, 77 and 79 at the two-day event.
 
Senior Kimberly Nyhus was next for UVU by tying for 61st place with a 247 (81-82-84), while freshmen Kaylee Shimizu (82-81-86—249) and Justine Lauer (80-89-81—250) placed 67th and 68th, respectively.
 
Fellow freshman Isabella Lesa (88-85-82—255) )and senior Monica Yeates (86-92-85—263) too took part in the tournament as individuals, and the two finished in respective places of 72nd and 77th.
 
The Wolverines spring season will continue on March 13-14 when it heads to St. George, Utah, to take part at the BYU Classic at Entrada. Following the tournament, UVU will remain in St. George to take part at the SUU Pizza Hut Lady Thunderbird Classic on March 16-17.
