Wind Sends Scores Soaring at TalonsCove Qualifying
Eddington, who stands about 5’4” and weighs 92 pounds, withstood the onslaught of a heavy wind to earn medalist honors at the Utah State Am Qualifying at TalonsCove Wednesday. On paper the score, 76, was not all that impressive, but for those who had to play in the wind it was a remarkable score.
Eddington is 19-years old and plays out of Spanish Oaks.
The cut came at 82, the highest in the recent history of the Utah State Am qualifyings, with 17 players advancing to the finals at Soldier Hollow July 5-9.
The day started beautifully. The dawning sun sparkled on Utah Lake and there was not a wisp of wind. Shortly after the first tee time the weather turned verocious and strong winds bent the flagsticks to the ground and blew all uncrisp shots into the long rough where they wer lost or unplayable. The day ended almost as calmly as it began, but in between golfer’s egos were shattered by the high winds, tall rough, and fast and sloping greens of TalonsCove.
