Kendra Dalton Is Victorious at Women’s Stroke Play Championship

Kendra Dalton secured the 2017 Women’s Stroke Play Championship victory at Glenmoor Golf Course after carding a two-day total of even-par 144. The 2016 Utah Women’s State Amateur champion took the early lead after the first round by carding 70 (-2), two strokes over BYU teammate Rose Huang.

Dalton kicked off the 36-hole championship on Wednesday with a birdie on Glenmoor’s par-5 No. 1 to help her card three-under 33 going out and 37 coming in to top the leaderboard. During her final round, Kendra posted back-to-back 37’s to post 74 (+2) and clinch the victory by one stroke over Rose Huang and Kelsey Chugg.

“I’ve been working on some mental stuff, and this is my first tournament trying it out,” explained Dalton. “I’m really excited to see improvements. I was able to compete with Rose and Kelsey and hang in there. It always feels great to win.”

Elizabeth Jones earned low senior over Sue Nyhus and Annette Gaiotti by posting rounds of 80-83—163. Cora Mickelson and Lydia Austin tied at 156 (+12) to earn co—medalist in Flight 2, while Joanne Kim won Flight 3 at 164.
