Five qualifying and two alternate spots were up for grabs at the U.S. Open Local Qualifier at The Country Club. Eighty-eight professionals and amateurs contended on Monday, May 8th for the opportunity to travel to Erin Hills Golf Club in Hartford, Wisconsin, and compete in the 2017 U.S. Open.

Rhett Rasmussen led the way by carding a four-under 67. He posted a five-under 30 on the front nine and one over on the back to earn medalist honors by two strokes over Brandon Kida.

Kida and Mitchell Schow tied for second at 69 (-2) to claim the second and third qualifying spots. Kelton Hirsh, Brigham Gibbs and Spencer Dunaway posted rounds of 70 to advance to a sudden-death playoff starting on the par-4 No. 1. Hirsh and Gibbs both made par on the first playoff hole to clinch the last two qualifying spots. Dunaway earned first alternate.

The final spot was determined by a five-way playoff at even-par 70. Jonathon Thomas made birdie on No. 1 to seal the deal as second alternate.
