Concepcion Earns Golfer of the Week Honors Once Again

OGDEN, Utah – For the fourth time during the 2016-17 campaign, SUU junior Fidel Concepcion has been named Men’s Golfer of the Week by the Big Sky Conference.

Concepcion shot a 209 (71, 69, 69) at the Grand Canyon University Invitational in Phoenix, finishing the event in a tie for ninth.

For Concepcion, that marked his sixth top-10 finish of the season.  

SUU has just one more regular-season event before the 2017 Big Sky Championships, as they will travel to Phoenix once again to compete in the Wyoming Cowboy classic.

OGDEN, Utah (March 22, 2017) – Northern Arizona golfer Sofya Anokhina and Southern Utah golfer Fidel Concepcion have been recognized with #BigSkyGolf weekly honors, for their play in tournaments last week.

Anokhina continued one of the hottest spring stretches #BigSkyGolf has even seen, winning the rain-shortened Sacramento State Invitational. On the par-72 Sierra View Country Club, Anokhina shot rounds of 69-72, finishing with a three-under-par 141. This is the third time this season that Anokhina has earned #BigSkyGolf weekly honors.

For Concepcion, this is his fourth time earning weekly honors this season. The Southern Utah junior shot rounds of 71-69-69 at the par-72 GCU Golf Course, finishing in a tie for ninth place at the Grand Canyon Invitational. Concepcion’s total was a three-under-par 209; Grand Canyon’s Billy Comeaux won the event with a 13-under-par 203.
