Blair Wins Sixth Straight Title on Utah Amateur Circuit, This One Required Playoff

 

Zac Blair managed to come from behind to force a playoff and then went on to win the Spanish Oaks Amateur for his sixth straight title without a loss this season. It’s a remarkable string of victories that is unmatched in recent Utah golf history. Historians are going to have to do some research to see if and when it may have been achieved previously. Who knows? Perhaps the last person to do it was his dad Jimmy Blair. Blair dominated the amateur circuit during his early career, but six straight? Maybe.

Blair shot a 71 in the first round and trailed Tyler Miner by six shots and another five players were in front of Blair. In the final round Blair carded a 67 and it was good enough for a tie with Miner and BYU teammate Cole Ogden.

In the professional division Steve Schneiter won the title with back-to-back rounds of 66 for a 132 total. That was better than the amateurs by six shots.
