When one thinks of Lynn Summerhays one automatically thinks of family. Lynn Summerhays is a family man, and in a year where ‘Family Values’ has become the politically correct theme who better to receive the UGA Gold Club Award?
Lynn and his wife Ann and their seven children are as loving and supportive of each other as a family can be. Togetherness is readily apparent and an ‘all for one, one for all’ attitude clearly prevails.
The beauty of Lynn’s family values is that they extend beyond his own family and unselfishly extend to other families, his extended family, his church family, and his junior golf family.
Lynn is the behind the scene of Summerhays. His father Pres was renowned coach, his brother Bruce is a famous professional golfer, and his son Boyd is one of the most celebrated junior players in Utah history, but Lynn, quietly in the background has been “The Rest of the Story.” In addition to being the guiding light to his own family he has been a strong, quiet leader of the junior golf family in Utah. While many people have been involved in its growth and success, it is clear that Summerhays has been the central leader for the past ten years.
Lynn graduated from the University of Utah, Cum Laude, in 1971, and earned a Masters Degree at George Washington University in 1974 and is a partner in the Boyer Company. Lynn is married to Ann Frischnect and they have seven children, David, Rebkah, Elizabeth, Spencer, Boyd, Mary, and Daniel.
Lynn’s soft voice and gentle manner, couple with his sincere and genuine love of others and his wisdom and common sense make him a superb leader of golf in Utah.
