Northern Arizona Wins Own Tourney, SUU Tops Utah Teams

Northern Arizona won the Red Rocks Invitational Saturday at Oak Creek Country Club in Sedona, Arizona by five shots over second place Cal Poly.  Arizona had a team score of 597 and Cal Ply shot 602. There were 20 teams entered in the women’s college invitational tournament, including three teams from Utah colleges.

Southern Utah University topped the Utah teams with a seventh place finish of 612, followed by Weber State with a score of 619, and Utah Valley University at 622.

Two Weber golfers, Kaceelyn Pouttu and Emily Podlesny, shot the lowest score among the Utahns with scores of 150. Pouttu shot 76-74 and Podlesny posted 77-73. Hannah Herman led the Utah Valley Wolverines with 79-72-151 and Rynae Baca led the Thunderbirds with 77-75-152.

Other high finishers from Utah were Nichole Thomas of SUU with 80-73-153 and Taylor Viquelia, also of SUU, 79-75-154. Heather Mathison of UVU, shot 82-74-156.
