Ernie Jr. has had a wide influence on the Utah golf scene as an outstanding player, as a head professional at several courses, and as owner-builder-operator of two of his own golf courses. His various successes have been a testament to the power of his personality No one in golf has a bigger, broader, happier smile than Ernie Jr. His magnetic personality exudes happines and has earned him thousands of friends. The UGA, recognizing him as one of Utah's most loved golfers, presented him with its most prestigious honor, the UGA Gold Club Award, in 2000.

In his early years he made a mark on the Utah circuit playing alongside the stars of the preceding generation, including his dad, his uncle George, Tee Branca, Dick Kramer, and other outstanding pros of the time. They drew large galleries and were instrumental in sparking an interest in the little known sport of golf throughout the state.

Ernie Jr. won professional events throughout the Intermountain West during the 50s, 60s, and early 70s. The highlight of his playing career was winning the Utah Open in 1966 at The Ogden Golf and Country Club.

That same year his father passed away and he took over ownership of Schneiter's Riverside, which was then a 9-hole course on 40 acres that he had helped his father build. Responsibility of course ownership began cutting into his tournament successes, but he remained competitive on the Utah pro circuit for many years.

In 1985 he purchased an additional 40 acres and redesigned and expanded his Riverside course to 18 holes. In 1993 he purchased
150 acres in West Point and built another 18-hole course known as Schneiter's Bluff. Both courses are walkable and very popular and have introduced hundreds of new players to the game. The courses cater to women, seniors, and beginners. Through careful and wise management he has provided quality golf courses at a low price and a smile to every golfer as they come and go.

Thousands of golfers have had their introduction to the game through Ernie Schneiter, Jr. He has also been very helpful and a model example to many other professionals as they have entered the pro ranks.

Ernie Jr. was born in 1930 and married Sue Mattson in 1955. They have four children, Brett, Julie, Jon, and Lori, and all are involved in the family golf enterprises.
